Why does a password reset not work on Localhost?

Localhost refers to your local computer or your personal computer and it is not available to the public.
It is basically used to test changes, design websites, try out new plugins and even to learn the code inside the website.
While you are using WordPress from localhost, the mail function is turned off by default on local servers.

Reset WordPress admin password on localhost

Here we are using phpMyAdmin to reset the password on localhost. Follow the steps below to Reset WordPress admin password on localhost:
a. Type https://localhost/phpmyadmin/ in your browser address bar.
b. Enter MySQL username and password. By default, the username is root with no password.
c. Once logged in select WordPress database and click on WordPress user table as shown in the picture below:

d. Now you need to click on edit link next to username of the admin user. Demo picture shown below:

e. Now you need to update information stored in WordPress database for that user. Update user_pass and select MD5in the ‘function’ column, as shown in the figure below. Click Go button after you are done
